Poor Man's Touch Screen Phone
My husband and I have owned Tracfone's for 8 years. He's not a big cell phone guy therefore I haven't been able to talk him into phones like and Antroid Touch or an iphone, which I'd love. So I have to settle for what Tracfone has to offer. After losing my newest phone (LG 500g) I deceided to go with what I really wanted and that was a touch screen phone. This model has not disappointed me. I call it the "poor mans touch screen phone" because the size obviously doesn't compare to iphones or Androids but if your looking for a phone like that with extras such as web browsing, games (with game download capability), camera, video, and a few other things like an alarm setting ect. then this just might fill that need. The thing I like about it compared to a phone like the LG 500g is that it's a full screen and not a keyboard taking up half the available screen space. Easier to use than flip phone and lots more fun
I recently got this LG800g Tracfone to replace an older LG225 flip phone, primarily because I wanted a cookie type phone that could also serve as an mp3 player. I purchased a data cable, 4 gb micro disk (the max for this particular phone), and silicone gel case from Amazon, so for under $70 I have everything I need to make this phone function for all my needs. When connected to a docking station, the sound is awesome--and welcome--since our local radio station decided Central California residents are no longer interested in classical music. Transferring my number and minutes over to the new phone was easy with Tracfone's customer service.As for transferring music onto your Tracfone, just be sure you connect to "Mass Storage" so the device icon shows up in "My Computer". This is a great phone But
If you buy this phone for other reasons than using it as a communication device then you should buy the 4gb Micro SD memory card and the LG Micro USB Data Cable. If you want to be able to upload your music or download your videos and pictures you must set up your External Memory. Here are some steps I went through:1. Install the 4gb Micro SD card,2. Connect the USB data cable,3. The screen should say Connect to Mass Storage,4. Choose yes.5. I then made the choice to exit.Something else you may have to do is:1. Click the MENU icon.2. Perfect for me!
Prior to purchasing the Tracfone, I was on Verizon and paying nearly $45 per month for 400 minutes. I looked back 1 year and found that the most I ever used was 50 minutes for a month. I decided to try the Tracfone and bought one with double minutes for life. I switched my Verizon number to my new phone and have had it for over a year and I love it. Just yesterday I bought the 1 year/400 minutes card, put the 15 digit numbers in on Tracfone's site and within seconds I got a text message saying the minutes were added to my phone. Since I have the double minutes for life, it gave me 800 minutes and 365 days to use them. All this was added to what I already had on the phone. With Verizon, if you don't use your minutes, they're gone. With Tracfone, unused minutes carry over to the next expiration date. You can text and use the web, just like other phones too.We travel quite a bit and I have never lost service and it sounds as good as my Verizon phone did...

The 400 minute card works fine -- Tracfone has performed well for me for over 2 years (review updated 2011-04-07)
First, the phone card itself--the 400 minutes plus 1 year of service--worked fine. Please note that I ordered one on January 20, 2011 for $74.99 from a seller called CardArt (Veronica Tablet)--this was a new seller for this item than had been here previously. I was very satisfied with that order, and so I ordered another when I saw a lower price of $69.99 on February 17, 2011 from the same seller. I had been skeptical of the low prices, but I trusted Amazon.com to back up the orders. The cards came as ordered--I added the first one to my Tracfone with a bonus code from the Tracfone site and got a total of 1,000 minutes and one year of service added to my phone (my tracfone has double minutes for life). This Card Workes Well & is Easy to Use.
It seems that some reviewers would rather discuss the Pro's and Con's of TracFone and there customer service as apposed to this card, which is what the review should be about. So let me review this card first and touch on the rest later.Previous to using this card I was using prepaidonline.com for my Tracfone minutes. They are about the same price as Tracfone but unlike Tracfone the service was excellent. All my transactions where over the phone to a US operator. Excellent bang for your buck!
I got this card for my LG EnV2 so that I could put music on it as well as have more storage space for pictures, along with the option of printing pictures I take on my phone at a kiosk that accepts SanDisc cards (adapter needed), and it works perfectly! Don't be alarmed if the product comes to your home in nothing but a bubble wrap envelope. Bulk packaging simply means that it doesn't have plastic casing on it. In other words, it doesn't have the retail packaging that you would see hanging on a store shelf at Wal-Mart.If your device doesn't read microSDHC cards, but you're looking for a microSD card (non-SDHC) that holds more storage capacity than 2 gigs, then you won't find it because such a card doesn't exist. Any microSD card with storage capacity higher than 2 gigs is automatically going to be an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. If you're looking at any product detail of, say a phone, and in the details it mentions that it can have an external storage capacity...

Quite Happy!
What can I say? It's a tiny little MicroSD card with 4 GB of memory. It worked great on the first try with my HTC 8925 (AT&T Tilt) phone. It's fast and the price was perfect.I'm sure in six months everyone will have 20 GB cards for $50 each, but for the time being if your phone or camera supports MicroSD and SDHC then pick one of these up.BTW: If you've never seen a MicroSD card, be prepared to be floored by its size. I bought this for use with a Nokia 6085 cell phone, but the card is not recognized by the phone.In fact, it wasn't recognized by the built-in reader in my 6 month old laptop, either.Upon contacting the supplier I was advised that cards higher in capacity than 2GB use a special format which is not usable by most devices, even laptops with integrated card readers, unless they specifically indicate that they can use the new SDHC (High Capacity) format.Kudos to the supplier, as they don't claim that it works with my phone; they shipped quickly and responded well to my email.The problem was my lack of research into possible compatibility issues.So, now you know. So far sooooo good!
I'm one of those people who really just wants a phone that I can use to call people. But,in this age of gadgets, I must admit that I like the extras. It's just easier to deal with, the touch screen that is. I like using a cell phone for my morning alarm also and found several of the ringtones very pleasing to awaken to(I set three morning alarms).I was a little nervous about the triple minutes for life actually coming through. So when I activated the phone I asked the rep if he could tell. He said yes, spent a lot of time with his supervisor, said it was only double minutes and gave me a number to call to "get the triple minutes" since it's not a TracFone promo. When I called the number they said, as I thought, that it was in the phone and if I got 1200 minutes it was triple. I still didn't want to wait to find out that is was not the case, there's only a ninety day warranty and a 7 day return, so I purchased the $10, 30 minute deal online. Sure enough I got 90...

I had already purchased two of these a few months before: one double minute direct from TracFone for $50 (20 minutes included), and one triple minutes for life from HSN (1200 minutes included) for $140. 1200 minutes is a tripled 400 minute/1 year card which sells for $99 at TracFone. So just subtract $99 from the price you pay for a TML w 1200 minutes to get what you paying for this fabulous little phone under this offer -- $10.I bought two more LG 800G's just this week from this vendor because this is one of the best cell phones ever offered by TracFone. great if it works in your service area
Ordered this assuming that it would work in the rather rural area where I live, and really liked the phone when I played with it prior to activation, esp. the touch-screen feature. But, upon trying to activate it online I got a message saying there was a problem with activation and that I had to call Tracfone.Turns out, Tracfone said that the 800G won't work in my area and they sent me a replacement--unfortunately, an LG501G--which has those pesky very tiny little buttons which I was trying to avoid. However, at least I DID get the 1200 minutes, 1-year activation and am told that I will be getting the triple minutes for life, even with the new phone (haven't tested this by buying minutes, yet).I'd encourage potential buyers to call Tracfone and make sure the LG800g will work in your area, but then, most folks do not live as far in the boonies as we do!The LG501g is ok but will likely end up being given to my middle-schooler, who does not mind the...

Best prepaid bang for your buck
I hate cell phones. In my opinion, long distance communication is best done via a land line (Limited Mobility? Oh, the humanity!) or a computer through e-mail, IM, or social networking sites. So if you're like me, you want a cell phone that you won't be using that often (business, emergencies, maybe even time-to-time socially), that you won't cry over if it is broken or stolen, and, most of all, MUST BE CHEAP. This product is very reasonably priced (7/2011: 22 + ns on Amazon, slightly more at a retail store), the value of the minutes is among the best for a prepaid cell phone, and the cell phone itself is pretty sweet. Buy it, carry it around with you or leave it in your car, toss it around, buy one for your ten year old to teach them about conservation, whatever.Especially with Tracfone, double minutes are a necessity. I read online reviews and looked at one in the store before I bought this phone. It is actually the first Tracfone I have bought that I was excited about! I have had a Tracfone for years, and it is now my "back-up" cell phone. I really didn't feel that I needed a smartphone with this but I wanted to be able to text more easily and have the possibility of web access not that I use it much. The phone was no surprise then after researching it, and I didn't expect a smartphone or even semi. That's not what this phone is.But I like the more modern look and also that it is not branded Tracfone on the outside (I usually turn off the automatic screen display of minutes anyway). It was easy to install the battery and get it charging. Then I was pleasantly surprised that customer service had my number and service transferred so easily. Good Basic Phone for Texting and Calling
I've had this phone for about 6 weeks, and like it. I replaced an ATT contract and a Motorola Razor with this Tracfone. For my purposes (texting and phone calls) it's just fine, and the full QWERTY keyboard is certainly much better for texting than what I had with the Razor. The instruction manual which comes with the phone is minimal, but Tracfone has a very informative interactive tutorial for the phone at their website. The one feature which I miss that my Razor had and this phone doesn't is voice-activated dialing. My significant other travels overseas quite a bit, and I use this phone to text and chat with him on his ATT phone while he's abroad. The charges for these international calls are no more than they would be for any call made here in the states. The sound quality for these overseas calls is great (except for the random clicking on the calls to/from China..maybe someone is eavesdropping??)I've been tracking my usage, and recently bought one year, 1500 minutes...

got this phone because my other tracfone phone had charging problems and the speaker was not that good. speaker on this one is great. can hear well in any location. charges quickly and is light weight. bluetooth worked on mine, first try. would buy again. even has a camera if you need that.
